Phillip James Miller, 84, of Bainbridge, passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at his residence.

The graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at Cool Springs Cemetery with Rev. Andrew Miller officiating.

Active pallbearers were Rusty Day, Colton Day, Nathaniel McCormick, Matthew McCormick, Michael McCormick, and Ben Knowles. The family received friends immediately following the service. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com.

Mr. Miller was born June 6, 1930 in Manhattan, NY, the son of William Michael Miller and Dorothy Jessie Coto Miller. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Miller retired after 25 years as a corrections officer with the Florida Department of Corrections. Phillip was a member of Faceville Baptist Church.

His family will remember how he enjoyed working in the yard, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Linda Lee Myers of Bainbridge; his children, Lisa Miller and her husband, Andy, of Tallahassee, Fla., Dorothy Day Chaney, and her husband, Jonathan, of Bascon, Fla., Lurleen McCormick of Denver, Colo., and Dereck J. Miller of Bainbridge; his grandchildren, Laura Knowles and her husband, Ben, Colton Day, Nathaniel Miller, Michael McCormick, and Matthew McCormick; his great-granddaughter, Michaela Lee Knowles; close friends, Pauline Miller, and Glenda Barfield; and Athena.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, William Miller, Donald Kaiser, and Blanche Cassamassa.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
