YMCA Barracudas swim team takes Moultrie by storm

The Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA Barracuda swim team turned a strong performance Saturday at the Moultrie YMCA Meet.

Taking high point awards were Ali Bennett in the 8-year-old and under division, Emily Sullivan in the 12-year-old and under division, Thad Whitaker in the 14-year-old and under division and Carla Hernandez in the 18-year-old under division.

Jennifer Clements, who coaches the Barracudas with Becki Miller, competed in the open age group and received high point honors for her outstanding performance.

Also competing and placing in the top five of their respective age groups were Ali Bennett, Allee Grace Dickson and Jocelyn Gainer in the 8-year-old and under girls division, Dawson Cottles and Eion Turner in the 8-year-old and under boys division and Christie Whitaker and Carissa White in the 10-year-old and under girls division.

Emily Sullivan and Kaydon Newberry were in the top five of the 12-year-old and under girls division, and Thad Whitaker was in the top five of the 14-year-old and under boys division, Carla Hernandez was in the top five of the 18-year-old and under girls division and coach Jennifer Clements was in the top five of the open age group.

Miller and Clements expressed great satisfaction with their team’s performance in Moultrie.

“The team did an outstanding job,” Miller said. “These kids train hard and it paid off Saturday in Moultrie.”

Clements added, “We are very proud of all of our swimmers performances.”
