Bert Steen

Bert Steen, 67, of Bainbridge, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 at his residence.

The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at the J.O. Smith Activities Building at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Mosley officiating. Mr. Steen was born Sept. 1, 1947 in Moseley Hall, Fla., the son of Morris Grissom Steen and Sarah Helen Hendry Steen. He was a graduate of Perry High School, Class of 1965, and also graduated from Berry College. Bert was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired as the District Conservationist with Natural Resources Conservation Service. Bert loved life and the outdoors, and didn’t take problems too seriously. He was a real
steward of the land.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Barnett Steen of Bainbridge; his sons, Crosby Steen of Bainbridge,  and Jesse Steen of Bainbridge; his brothers, Morris G. Steen, Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Shady Grove, Fla., Joe Steen of Shady Grove; his sister, Sarah Lauterbach of Shady Grove; and his Navy brother, Don Roberson, and his wife, Paula, of Cumming, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ragan Steen; and his sister, Mary Steen Baeza.
