Tony R. Hamm, 73, of Bainbridge, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at his residence.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Christian Faith Church with Larry Harrell and Rev. Ron Kirkland officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Gordon Hutchins, Tyler Hutchins, Brian Parker, Beau Parker, Mitch Parker and Shawn Kindoll serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Lester Maxwell, Bobby Hinson, Tommy Hamm, Kevin Smith, Leonard Phillips, Byrl Harrell, Gerald Taylor, David Lane, Troy Thomas, Danny Dollar, Jeff Dixon, and Stacy Hutchins.

Mr. Hamm was born September 26, 1940 in Hahira, Ga., the son of William Clarence Hamm, Sr. and Cora Belle Nash Hamm. He was a graduate of Suwannee High School and received his associate degree from Lake City Community College. Mr. Hamm also attended the University of Florida. Tony was a highly decorated employee with Sears for 35 years and was the owner of Sears in Tifton, Ga. He was a member of Southwest Baptist Church and also attended Beulah Thomas Baptist Church and Christian Faith Church. Mr. Hamm was a member of the Tifton Chamber of Commerce, the Tift County Touchdown Club and the Sears DECA club. He coached many youth sports and loved softball, basketball, football, golf and NASCAR. Mr. Hamm loved working with his hands, especially helping others with almost any repair need. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing was a favorite activity. Mr. Hamm’s advice, leadership and most of all his sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hutchins Hamm of Bainbridge; his children, Brad Hamm and his wife, Charlotte, of Tifton, and Brent Hamm and his wife, Liska, of Valdosta, Ga.; his siblings, Jerry Hamm and his wife, Beatrice, of Jacksonville, Fla., Charles Hamm and his wife, Gloria, of Jasper, Fla., Joey Hamm and his wife, Debbie of Live Oak, Fla., Mary Belle Wilson and her husband, AJ, of Cordele, Ga., and JoAnn Laseter and her husband, Billy, of Jasper; his grandchildren, Jack Hamm and Morgan Hamm of Valdosta; many nieces and nephews; many close friends and his dog Peanut.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William C. Hamm, Jr.
