Jesse E. Knight, Sr.

Jesse Knight of Texas passed away July23 at the age of 74 after a lengthy battle with cancer. After graduation from Bainbridge High School in 1960, he enlisted in the USCG for a tour of duty. After service he stayed in Texas, married and worked at Dow Chemical Co. While at Dow, he served as union steward. He retired after 32 years. He was a member of the Brazoport Garden Club. He enjoyed planting and growing vegetables and flowers.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Lisa, sons Jess E. Knight Jr. and Charles L. Knight, stepdaughter Nicloe R. Conley, stepson Joshua G. Masters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters Dorothy Knight Harter and Ethel Knight King of Bainbridge. He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Charlet, parents Mr. and Mrs. Thurman L. Knight, Sr., brother Thurman L. Knight, Jr. and Charles M. Knight.

Funeral services will be in West Columbia, Texas July 29. Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Jesse donated his brain and other organs to the UTMB/Mischer Neuroscience Program to help find a cure for Glioblastoma.
