Middle Georgia College Warriors head soccer coach Vinnie  Gill emphasized the importance of hard work and dedication to the  game during his Tuesday July 8  through Friday July11  Warriors Soccer Camp for 11-to-19-yeqr olds at Centennial Field.

Gill, a native of  Ireland who played semi pro soccer in his home country, has been conducting soccer camps in Bainbridge since 1996.

“With the World Cup going on right now in Brazil, soccer is really in the world spotlight,” Gill said. “The players there representing their country have  worked countless hours to make their country’s team. They are dedicated to their game and take a lot of pride  in their performance.

“The campers out here this week are eager to learn and improve their soccer fundaments. I want to help them do that by working on skills like dribbling, passing, shooting ball handling and goal tending.

Bainbridge High School Lady Cats head soccer coach Chip Ariail .who assisted at the camp, praised coach Gill for his goal to make young performers the best soccer players they can be.

“What coach Gill is teaching you will help you improve your soccer skills,” coach Ariail told the young campers. “He wants you to get better and you will if you just listen to him and work hard. Many of our former players went on to play for him at Middle Georgia and Thomas Cllege.

Gill said the relationship between him, coach Ariail and  former Bainbridge High School Bearcats head soccer coach Jamie Ard has been special over the years.

“Coach Ariail  and coach Ard have really done a good job grounding their players in soccer fundamentals,” Gill players. The players they sent to play for me at Thomas College and Middle Georgia College were always fundamentally sound.”
