Powell Cobb has been named managing editor of The Post-Searchlight, Bainbridge Living Magazine, Rifle & Rod Magazine and the publications’ associated websites, replacing former managing editor Ashley Johnson.

Johnson’s last day at the newspaper was last Friday.  She left the newspaper to plan and prepare to be married in her hometown of Marietta in October.

Cobb, 23, has spent the last eight months as a reporter for The Post-Searchlight, covering everything from sports to county commission meetings.

“I am very excited to be named managing editor of this outstanding newspaper,” Cobb said. “Being a part of the Bainbridge community has been an enjoyable experience, and I will make it my duty to shine a light on everything happening in the city and the rest of Decatur County.”

Post-Searchlight publisher Jeff Findley said he was looking forward to Cobb leading the newsroom.

“I am very pleased that Powell has accepted this opportunity to lead our newsroom and to continue to serve Bainbridge and Decatur County in a larger role,” said Jeff Findley, publisher of The Post-Searchlight and president of Bainbridge Media. “In a short period of time, he has proven himself to be a very capable reporter and a valuable member of our team. I also wish Ashley Johnson the best as she moves into the next chapter of her life.”
