Funeral services for Bertha L. Johnson, 44, of Bainbridge, were held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1006 Holly St., Bainbridge, with Rev. Harry Mitchell Sr. officiating.

Bertha L. Johnson was born May 23, 1957 in Bainbridge, to the late Mable Corker and Will Johnson. She was educated in the Decatur County School System.

Bertha loved kids, cooking and talking with family and friends. She was always smiling and a joy to be around.  She will truly be missed.

Bertha departed this earthly life on Thursday, April 24, 2014.  She was preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph, Henry, and Willie Lee; one sister, Geraldine; and one nephew, David Harper III.

She leaves to cherish her memories a very special friend and companion, Arthur Parrish; three children whom she raised as her own: Katina Porter (Lester), Derrick Johnson, and Anthony Johnson (Quanda); six sisters: Allie Mae Jenkins, Eva Johnson, Leatha Johnson, Marion Bush, all of Bainbridge; Linda Sims (Willie), and Mary Sims (Terry), both of Atlanta; one nephew whom she felt was her brother, David Harper Jr. of Bainbridge; a sister-in-law, Valerie Wooten of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; nieces and nephews: Toniette, Vivian, Terrance, Sharod, Jamie, Shameka, Sidney (Natasha), Joe (Krista), Melinda, and Rodney; special friends: Shirley Bouie, Teresa Flowers, Brenda Thomas, Sandra Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Interment was in Jonas Lobe Cemetery, Bainbridge, with Dexter Bouie, Bennie Brown, Sidney Carlton, David Harper Jr., Anthony Johnson, Lester Porter, acting as pallbearers.

Guyton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
