Bainbridge basketball to celebrate season at annual banquet this week

The 2013-2014 Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats basketball teams will be honored at the annual basketball awards banquet Thursday at 6 p.m. at the school cafeteria. Admission to the public will be $5.

Coach Rickey McCullough’s Bearcats finished first in the region 1-AAAAA regular season and were second in the region 1-AAAAA tournament. They advanced to the third round of the state class AAAAA tournament.
McCullough reached a milestone January 14 in Colquitt when his Bearcats defeated the Miller County High School Pirates 72-58 for his 800th career victory.

Coach Kelvin Cochran’s Lady Cats finished fourth in region 1-AAAAA and advanced to the first round of the state class AAAAA tournament.

Bearcats earning first team All-Region 1-AAAAA recognition were sophomore Tyree Crump, who averaged 22.4 points a game, and sophomore Trevon Shaw, who averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds a game.

Bearcat junior Stephen Johnson, who averaged five points and six rebounds a game, earned second team All-Region recognition. Sophomore Devontae Jones was honorable mention All-Region 1-AAAAA. He averaged six points a game.

Lady Cats earning first team All-Region recognition were Alexandria Carter, who averaged 10 points and 1.2 assists a game and junior Patra Parris, who averaged 12 points and 8.6 rebounds a game.

Lady Cat Tameria Levens earned second team All-Region recognition. She averaged 7.2 points, four rebounds and 5.2 assists a game. Junior point guard Beonka Madge and junior forward Longeisha Emanuel earned honorable mention All-Region. Madge averaged seven points and 3.8 assists a game and Emanuel averaged 4.9 points and 5.5 rebounds a game.
