Many Downtown Bainbridge businesses are collaborating with local artists and the Bainbridge-Decatur County Council for the Arts this Thursday, April 17, to hold the second annual Art and Wine Walk from 4 to 8 p.m.
According to Cheryl Carvajal, director of the Firehouse, this was a special event for the downtown last year and she expects an even greater turnout this year. 19 businesses and the same number of artists have signed up to participate.
It is a chance to become acquainted with the many talented artists in the area and come to appreciate their artwork, while enjoying a bit of libation. Art patrons who are taking the journey round the square will have opportunity to sample different wines, punch and munchies at each stop.
Each participating downtown merchant will display several pieces created by a local artist, who will be on hand for commentary on their work.
Adults may purchase advance tickets from Amanda Glover at City Hall for $20, or pay $25 the day of the event at the Firehouse Gallery, 119 W. Water Street, beginning at 4 p.m.
The walk begins at the Firehouse, where patrons may pick up an agenda and view the work of artist Theresa Ulrich, who currently has a show. The first 75 walkers will receive a complimentary wine glass.
Children are especially welcome to accompany adults at this event, and they can obtain children’s passes for free at the Firehouse the afternoon of the event. Children should have their passes validated at each location they visit, and those who collect enough stamps on their passes at local businesses can turn in their passes for a drawing to win a new student art kit.
For more information and to purchase tickets, contact Amanda Glover at 229.248.2000 or by e-mail at amandag@bainbridgecity.com. For more information about the children’s passes, call Cheryl Carvajal at 229.246.3225 or by e-mail at bainbridgefirehouse@gmail.com.
