The Bainbridge High School Bearcats baseball team dropped a Region 1-AAAAA doubleheader to the Hardaway Golden Hawks Friday in Columbus.
They dropped the opener 10-1 and were edged 3-0 in the nightcap. The Bearcats and Golden Hawks were scoreless through two innings.
The Golden Hawks broke the scoring ice with five runs in the bottom of the third. Winning pitcher Trevon Dorsey drew a two-out walk to ignite the rally. He stole second and came in on a triple by catcher Josh Anthony. First baseman Blake Meadows followed with a two-run homer to make it 3-0.
Third baseman Tony Locey singled and came around ahead of shortstop Marcell Byrd who blasted a two-run homer to make it 5-0.
The Bearcats threatened in the bottom of the third. Third baseman Grant McDonald singled but was stranded.
The Golden Hawks scored three more runs in the top of the fourth to increase their advantage to 8-0. Second baseman Sam Anthony started the rally with a single, moved up to second on a single by center fielder Trent Abrams and came home ahead of Abrams when catcher Josh Anthony blasted a two run double to make it 7-0. A double by third baseman Tony Lacey drove in Anthony with the Golden Hawks eighth run.
The Bearcats pushed across a run in the top of the fifth to cut the Lady Cats lead to 8-1. The rally started with a one out single by left fielder Anderson Bailey. He stole second and came around to score when designated hitter Hayden Godwin was safe on an error. The Golden Hawks closed out the games scoring with two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Pitcher Trevon Dorsey drove them in with a two out single.
In the second game the Golden Hawks scored one run in the bottom of the first and two more in the bottom of the fifth.
Trevon Dorsey, who played right field in the second game, singled with one away in the bottom of the first. Catcher Josh Anthony followed with a double to drive him in.
Bearcats center fielder Tate Lambert singled to open the top of the second before being stranded. Left fielder Anderson Bailey walked to open the top of the third and moved up to second when designated hitter Hayden Godwin grounded out from pitcher to first.  Third baseman Grant McDonald grounded out from short to first and shortstop Ben Day grounded out from third to first to retire the side.
The Golden Hawks two run bottom of the fifth opened with a single by second baseman Sam Anthony. He stole second and ca me in on a single by second baseman Trent Abrams who stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and came in on a fielder’s choice.
