Bearcats dominate track and field at TCC meet, Lady Cats capture fifth

Coach Larry Cosby’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats track team won last Saturday’s Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets and Lady Yellow Jackets Invitational Meet. Coach Tandria Phillips’ Lady Cats were fifth in a strong 16-team field.
Paige Braswell set a new school record in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes and 59 seconds. The old record of 12 minutes and 12 seconds was set by April Thomas in 2009.
Bearcat Dominic Douglas won the high jump with a leap of 6-feet-4-inches and his teammate Curtavious Marshall won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.82.
Bearcats capturing second places were Chase Harris with a 9:54.13 3200-meter time, Craig Cooper with a 6-foot-3-inch high jump and a 22-feet-4-inch long jump and Chris Johnson with a 129-foot-6-inch discus throw.
Taking third bases for the Bearcats were Lorenzo Mitchell with a 52.22 400-meter time and Charles Vickers with a 43-foot-7-inch triple jump. Chris Johnson was fourth in the shot put with a heave of 45-feet-6-inches.
The Bearcats 4-by-100 meter relay team of Martez Vickers, Elijah Tyler, Craig Cooper and Cedric Jones were fourth in a time of 43.24.
Fifth place Bearcats individual finishers were Elijah Tyler with an 11.28 100-meter time and Steven Johnson with a 42-foot-4-inch triple jump.
Also taking fifth with a time of 3:36.33 was the Bearcats 4-by-400 meter team of Craig Cooper, Curtis Keaton, Shawn Herring and Lorenzo Mitchell. Isiah Brown finished sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 42.64. Dreyvon Banks took eighth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:55.72.
Bearcat Victor Bodison took eighth in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet-1-inch. Shawn Herring, Lorenzo Mitchell, Craig Cooper and Victor Bodison were eighth in the 4-by-100 meter run in a time of 43.67.
Lady Cat Ravwn Burney took second in the long jump with a leap of 16-feet-2-inches and fourth in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:03.34.
School record setting 3200-meter Lady Cats runner Paige Braswell also finished fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:36.33. Lady Cat Tearnee Harvin was third in the 100-meter run with a time of 12.97 and fourth in the 200-meter run with a time of 27.31. Her teammate Asia Tomas was third in the discus with a throw of 99-feet-7-inches and fourth in the shot put with a heave of 32-feet-9-inches.
The Lady Cats 4-by-100 meter relay team of Tereka Green, Tearnee Harvin, Raven Burney and Jasmine Price was fourth in a time of 50.53. Their 4-by-400 meter relay team of Deandrea Green, Hasmine Price, Raven Burney and Tereka Green was fifth in a time of 4:25.44. Lady Cat Brianna Turner was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 51.77. Tearnee Harvin was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 15-feet-1-inch.
Lady Cat Zakiya Calloway was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.58 and eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 28-feet-1.5-inches.
