William Landon Kirkland

Mr. William Landon Kirkland, age 71, of Brinson, passed away Thursday evening, Feb, 20, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Kirkland were held on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, with Rev. James Scarborough officiating.  Interment followed in Calvary Assembly of God Church Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Kirkland was born on Dec. 22, 1942 in Donalsonville, to Leroy Kirkland and Irma Hortense Griner Kirkland.  Mr. Kirkland served his country in the United States Air Force and retired from there with the rank of Master Sergeant.
Mr. Kirkland was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Kirkland and Irma Hortense Griner Kirkland; his wife, Shirley Dianne Alday Kirkland; his sister, Helen Kelly; and his father-in-law, Roscoe Alday.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Sonya Denise Smiley of Ray City, Ga. and Karen Kirkland of Brinson; a son, William Michael Kirkland and his wife Katina of Iron City; his grandchildren, Stephanie Anne Edmonds and her husband Lee of Hickam AFB, Hawaii, Rachel Smiley of Freeburg, Ill., Jessica Williamson and her husband Adrian of Bainbridge, Joseph and Megan Mash, both of Brinson, Gracen, Landon, and Anna Kate Kirkland all of Iron City; and his great-grandchildren, AddaLynn Kirkland and Zoey Edmonds both of Hickam AFB, as well as Sydney Williamson of Bainbridge.  He is also survived by three sisters, Hilda Warriner and her husband, J.W. of Reynoldsville, Patricia Thursby of Donalsonville, and Geneva Middleton of Albany, Ga.; two brothers, Hiram Kirkland and his wife Dana of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Stanley Kirkland of Brinson; his mother-in-law, Allean Alday and his sister-in-law, Linda King; and a brother-in-law, Phillip Kelly all of Bainbridge.
Evans Skipper Funeral Home was in charge.
