Memorial Hospital and Manor Authority reports on finances and new developments

It was a short meeting for the Memorial Hospital & Manor Authority on Tuesday. Board members were pleased with the financial report, which showed a positive figure for the month of January, with a net income of $429,945.
This was largely due  to the receipt of a $887,554 payment of incentive money reimbursement for implementation of the electronic health records procedure.
This brought the current year-to-date net income figure of $765,301 closer to that of last year, which was $840,844.
There were no requests for capital equipment purchases.
CEO Billy Walker gave an update on the month’s activities and future events.
He reported the employee survey had been completed, although results were not yet available, and that 84 percent of the employees completed it, compared to 64 percent the last time it was given.
The renovation of patient rooms is continuing, but has been slowed due to a high census occupying the rooms, making it impossible to paint. So far 25 rooms have been completed.
Coming events include the following:
March 14 – The hospital will have a team competing in the Flames on the Flint barbecue contest as part of the Rivertown Days celebration.
March 22 – Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Bainbridge Half-marathon,
March 25 – A Tobacco-Free program will be presented at the Bainbridge High School and middle school with Patrick Reynolds of R.J. Reynolds Co. speaking. This is sponsored by the hospital and the Decatur County School Foundation.
May 3. The Memorial Hospital & Manor Foundation Derby Night will be held at the Kirbo Center.
Following a brief closed executive meeting, the board came back into open meeting and approved past minutes of the executive committee meeting, and the reappointment of February credentials for a large number of physicians.
Active physicians are: Aric Aldridge, J. Sydney Cochran, Gordon Miller, T. H. Parker Jr., Donald Robinson, Charles Walker, and Douglas West; honorary – Dean Burke;  Consulting – Timothy Grayson, Brian Szwarc, Alonzo Bentley; and courtesy, Philip ‘Todaro.
