Martha Waters Mobley

Funeral services for Martha Waters Mobley, 77, of Whigham, Ga., are at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Union Springs Baptist Church, Whigham.  Rev. Carl Harrell and Pastor Johnny Burdick will officiate.  Interment will be in Union Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.  Mrs. Mobley passed away at Willson Hospice House in Albany, GA on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014.
Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ben Hattaway, Jack Hattaway, Richard Irvin; Spencer Duncan, John Emory Trawick, and Mike Wilde.  Honorary pallbearers will be: Adult Ladies Sunday School Class of Union Springs Baptist Church, Billy Majors, Bud Manley, Haskell White, John Mason, J. D. Stephens, Embry McBroom, James R. “Chub” Maxwell, Steve Maxwell and Paul Voyles.
Mrs. Mobley was born on Oct. 29, 1936, in Cairo, Ga., to the late Howard Ira Waters and Mollie Owens Waters.  On August 7, 1955, she married Benjamin Franklin (Benny) Mobley, who survives.  She worked for a number of years in the office of Dr. C. K. Singleton prior to becoming a bookkeeper for Roddenbery Hardware.  She retired after 30 years as an accounting clerk with the W. B. Roddenbery Company.  She was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church, Whigham.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Rev. Lavelle Waters, Sr., Bernell Waters, Edward Waters; sister, Dorothy Waters; brothers-in-law, George Abney and Joe Mobley.
Survivors include her husband, Benjamin Franklin (Benny) Mobley; daughters, Denise Hattaway (Cliff) of Bluffton, Ga., Pamela Chambers (Mike) of Whigham, Felicia Massey of Calhoun, La.; grandchildren, Ben Hattaway of Bluffton, Ashley Hattaway of Bluffton, Richard Irvin (Heather) of Columbus, Ga., Jack Hattaway (MacKenzie) of Columbus, John Massey and Garrett Massey, both of Calhoun; great-grandchildren, Hayden Hattaway, Aaron Irvin, Addison Irvin; brother-in-law, Curtis Mobley (Jackie); sisters-in-law, Beth Abney, Shirley Whitley (Charles) and Virginia Mobley.
