Isabel Macciarella, 91, lovingly known as “Poggy,” daughter of Ben Hill and Verie Lee Strickland, died after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Jan. 29, 2014 in Simi Valley, Calif.
Born in Fort Meyers, Fla., on Oct. 19, 1922, she moved to Bainbridge, Ga. with her family in 1929. She graduated from Climax High School in 1939 and later married Dr. Angelo C. Macchiarella and resided in Los Angeles County, Calif. for more than 60 years.
She is survived by her son, Michael Macchiarella of Northridge, Calif., daughters Carol Costello and her husband Maurice and Sheila Pearce, both of Simi Valley, and Sharon Macchiarella of Bainbridge; her sister Sara Sasser and husband Watson of Bainbridge and sister-in-law Katherine Dispenza of Northridge, Calif.; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
Isabel was laid to rest at the San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery located in Mission Hills, Calif. On Feb. 5, 2014.
Rose Family Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
