Dr. Eugene Ward St. Marie, 87, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Memorial Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The funeral mass will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Dave Hamm, S.T. officiating.

Dr. St. Marie was born July 23, 1926 in Elyria, Ohio, the son of Eugene Maurice St. Marie and Mildred Crow St. Marie. He served in the United States Air Force from 1944 to 1946 and was a member of the reserve from 1946 to 1951.
Dr. St. Marie received his Bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio; his medical school was the University of Health Science, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Mo.
He received his Doctor of Osteopathy in 1954 and his Doctor of Medicine in 1962. Dr. St. Marie did his internship at the Forest Hill Hospital in Cleveland, and his residency in Anesthesiology at Forest Hill Hospital and Brentwood Hospital in Warrensville Heights, Ohio. He worked for Forest Hill Hospital, Richmond Heights General Hospital, Brentwood Hospital, Northeast General Hospital, and finally retiring from Jacksonville Medical Center.  Holding licenses in both Ohio and Florida, Dr. St. Marie was a Federal Aviation Medical Examiner. After retiring from Jacksonville Medical Center, Dr. St. Marie worked in General Practice for Urgent Medical Care in Jacksonville, as Insurance Medical Examiner, as a Medical Review Officer for many companies, and as the Medical Director for Atlantic Marine and Dry Dock in Jacksonville.
He was a member of many organizations, Sous Medicin Grand Du Florida, American Legion Post 233, V.F.W. Post 4351, and was a past board member of the alumni board of John Carroll University.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia A. St. Marie; his son, Patrick Carroll St. Marie; and his siblings, Jeré St. Marie, Nadine St. Marie Davis, Rev. Denis St. Marie, S.T., Mary Ann St. Marie Bierbower, and Leon St. Marie.
Survivors include his son, Dr. Michael St. Marie and his wife, Janet, of Albany, Ga.; his daughter, Nanette St. Marie McIntosh, and her husband, Robert, of Bainbridge; his brother, Thomas St. Marie of Ohio; his 10 grandchildren; and his 4 great-grandchildren.
