Cross-country comes home with Region titles

Chase Harris led the team at the Thomas Central High School Yellow Jackets and Lady Yellow Jackets sponsored Region 1AAAAA Cross Country Meet at Thomasville’s Greenwood Plantation Saturday.
Harris won the overall boys championship in a time of 16:26 and Paige Braswell won the overall girl’s championship in a time of 19:07. Both Harris and Braswell are National Elite Runners.
The Bearcats and Lady Cats will now advance to the State Class AAAAA cross-country meet this Saturday in Carrollton.
Bearcats behind Harris in the boy’s division Saturday were Devyon Banks, who was third with a time of 16:59, Brenden Greene, who was ninth in a time of 18:13 and Bennett Enfinger, who was 10th in a time of 18:23. Lady Cat Jamia Powell was 14th for the girls in a time of 23:43.
“We are very proud of the accomplishments of our Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country this year,” coach Enfinger said Monday morning. “They have worked very hard and produced great dividends.”
