Tailback Kerenski Williams ran for two touchdowns Monday at Bainbridge High School to lead coach Scott Miller’s Bainbridge High School ninth grade Bearcats to a 14-6  season-ending victory over the Worth County High School ninth grade Rams.

Williams ran a 30-yard sweep around the left side for a second quarter touchdown and quarterback Tyler Batty completed a two-point conversion pass to wide receiver Austin Shattles to put the Bearcats up 8-0.

Rams running back Gerome Williams cut the lead to 8-6 when he ran left for 25 yards and a touchdown later in the second quarter. He tried to run in for the two-point conversion, but the Bearcats defense came up to stop him short.

Williams scored the final Bearcats touchdown in the fourth quarter. He ran in up the middle from 30 yards out. He tried to power his way up the middle for the two-point conversion but was stopped just short of the goal line.

Coach Miller said he was proud of the progress his ninth grade players made this season.

“We went 2-2 and improved every game,” he said. “With the players we had and the talent on the seventh and eighth grade teams a solid foundation is being set.”
