GCA Lady Cougars record two wins

Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars volleyball team, coached by Erwin Harrell, improved their season record to 13-3 with a 3-0 victory over the Robert F. Munroe School Lady Bobcats Tuesday, Oct. 1 in Quincy, Fla. A 3-0 home victory over Ozark Alabama’s Dale County Lady Crusaders on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Perry Memorial Gymnasium further improved their record.

The Lady Cougars, who are 6-1 are in first place in the Georgia Independent Schools Association Region 3AA.

In the match with the Lady Bobcats, the Lady Cougars won the first set 25-22, won the second set 25-17 and won the third set 25-31.

In the match with the Lady Crusaders, the Lady Cougars won the first set 25-9, won the second set 25-6 and won the third set 25-11.

Leading the way against the Lady Bobcats were Melissa Mills with 23 kills, Kelsey Harrell with 11 kills, Sarah Castoro with digs and Merrianna Parker with 30 assists. Castoro also had a 94 percent serve percentage, successfully converting 15 of 16 serves.

Pacing the attack against the Lady Crusaders were Melissa Mills with 14 kills, and Merrianna Parker and Lindsey Duke with a 100 percent serve percentages. Parker, who also had 24 assists, successfully converted 10 of 10 serves and Duke successfully converted 6 of 6 serves.
