William Travis Day, 61, of Bainbridge, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. David Grubbs and the Rev. Scott Messer officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, with Jason Scott, Chris Scott, Jeff Brancato, Preston Messer, Earl Knight, Alan Killingsworth, Dean Atkinson and Stuart Atkinson serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the men of First Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Day was born Sept. 11, 1951, in Dunedin, Fla., the son of William Harmon Day and Mary Lavania Craft Day. He was a graduate of Tarpon Springs High School, Class of 1969, and was a law enforcement officer with Bainbridge Public Safety and retired from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Day was a member of Bainbridge First Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Day was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Day Vangelinos.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Betty Day of Bainbridge; his sons, Waylon Day and his wife, Shana, and Hank Day and his wife, Summer, all of Bainbridge; his brother, Tyrone Day and his wife, Rachelle, of Port Richey, Fla.; and his three grandchildren, Haylon Day, Liam Day and Ivy Day.
