Miss Mycla Ann Palmer became the bride of Mr. David James Baker on Saturday, May 19, 2012, in a 6 p.m. candlelight ceremony, at the First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Stephen L. Webb. Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Gaye Herndon, organist, and Ms. Allyson Walker, vocalist.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Palmer of Bainbridge, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baker of Hollywood, Md.

The natural beauty of the church was enhanced by an arrangement of all white roses, hydrangea and gerbera daisies. Gold candelabra and arrangements of greenery and palms formed a backdrop for the ceremony. Pews were marked with white satin ribbon and white gerbera daisies.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a one shoulder formal gown with asymmetric lace adorned with crystallized bugle beads and sequins on the bodice. The waistline was defined by lace at the front and deep pleats on the back that gave it fullness. The look was completed with an A line skirt. Her cathedral length veil was of Brussels lace and was the same one worn by her mother on her wedding day. It was purchased by the bride’s grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jake Wolffe, on a trip to Belgium in 1973. The bride carried a bouquet of white gerbera daisies, hydrangeas and white Amelia roses.

Matron of honor was Kendall Stavely Sheffield of Bainbridge. Bridesmaids were Sandra Lynn Griffin of Bainbridge; Laura Faye Pope of Atlanta, Natalee Denise Singleton of Thomasville; and Allyson Frances Walker of Bainbridge. They were attired in knee-length, turquoise, one shoulder A-line chiffon dresses and wore silver shoes. Each carried a bouquet of pink gerbera daisies, white hydrangeas and Vogue and Primavera roses.

Flower girl was Allyson Leigh Mills, cousin of the bride, of Tallahassee, Fla. She wore a white, sleeveless organza dress with a white organza sash. In her hair was a halo of white daisies and roses. She carried a pomander of pink sweetheart roses and white daisies.

Paul Jason Baker of Dallas, Texas served as his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Jason Christopher Alvey of Lusby, Md., James Wesley Butler III of Chelsea, Ala., Patrick Dee Hurley of Enid, Okla. and Joseph Ryan Ward of Charleston, S. C. Ushers were Capt. Seth Matthew Green, serving in Iraq, and Capt. Ries Alexander Korstjens of Fort Hood, Texas.

The bride’s mother wore a formal sapphire blue chiffon dress with a matching beaded lace three-quarter sleeve jacket and carried a small bouquet of gerbera daisies.

The groom’s mother wore a floor length royal blue sleeveless dress with a white wrap and carried a small bouquet of gerbera daisies.

The bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Charles H. Kirbo Regional Center at Bainbridge College, decorated in the theme of a Southern garden. The focal point was an archway adorned with greenery, magnolia trees, knock-out roses and evergreens, accented with up-lighting and a white garden bench.

Tables in the solarium and the dining room held large clear vases of Bells of Ireland, curling willow and pink gerbera daisies, along with white hydrangeas, pink roses and sword fern. Other tables were decorated with wine glasses holding pink gerbera daisies atop pillow candles and cylinder vases with pink gerbera daisies accented with LED flora lights.

The bride’s table held a three-tiered butter cream cake with live hot pink gerbera daisies and turquoise ribbon accents. It was surrounded by urns carrying palms, ivy, peace lily and sprengeri plants. The groom’s table held  square chocolate cake decorated with the Auburn University logo and Auburn themed decor on the table.

Following the wedding, the couple left for a honeymoon to Grand Riviera Sandals Resort at Ocho Rios, Jamaica. They are now residing in Jacksonville, Fla., where the groom is employed as an engineer with Ram Jack of Jacksonville.
