Kennesaw State University golf coach Jay Moseley, a 2004 Bainbridge High School honor graduate and Bainbridge Bearcats and Region 1-AAAA low medalist, returned home last week to conduct a youth golf clinic for 14-to-17-year-olds at Bainbridge Country Club on Thursday and Friday.

Moseley, the son of Brown and Susan Moseley, who went on earn All-American honors with Auburn University, said giving back to the community has always been something very important to him.

Assisting Moseley at the clinic was Bainbridge High School golf coach Tom Wheeler.

“At golf clinics, like the one this week, it is important that the youngsters learn to properly execute the fundamentals of the game and have fun,” Moseley said.

During his Auburn career, Moseley received the prestigious Brad Davis SEC Community Service Award.

“The Southeastern Conference Community Service Award meant a lot to me because it showed I had more of an impact than just being a golfer and a student,” he said. “That is just as much a part of  being an athlete and coach as anything.”

As an Auburn student-athlete, Moseley consistently showed his commitment to enhancing the lives of others through volunteer work, ranging from visiting hurricane victims to reading to classes at local elementary schools.

During his 2007-2008 senior year, he was first team All-SEC. He was also a Ping All-American and a Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar, as chosen by the College Golf Coaches of America.

Playing in 12 events his senior season, Moseley led the Auburn Tigers golf team in scoring average at 71.83. He also had 18 sub-par rounds, nine rounds in the 60s and three top-10 finishes. He led all Tigers golfers in seven events and finished second in the Seminole Intercollegiate Tournament in Tallahassee, Fla., with a round of 7-under-par 209.

Moseley, who is married to the former Kelly Blaser of Memphis, Tenn., lists his parents, former Bainbridge Country Club professional Christa Teno, the late Bainbridge Country Club champion Robert Baggs and former Bainbridge Country Club manager Howard Griffin as being among his role models.

“There were a lot of people who helped me in my academic and golf careers,” he said. “My Bainbridge High School golf coaches Kevin Toole and Dick Griffin, and my Auburn golf coach Mike Griffin were all great role models.”

Moseley earned an undergraduate degree in business administration and a master’s degree in sports management from Auburn.
