Bainbridge Public Safety and the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office are investigating several burglaries, property thefts and break-ins that have happened within the past two weeks.

Last Saturday, June 10, Public Safety officers responded to a report that someone had broken into the Public Defender’s Office at 326 W. Water Street in downtown Bainbridge and stole four black Dell laptop computers.

On June 4, farmer Andy Bell reported a theft of farm chemicals from a warehouse at 1290 Pelham Road in Cimax. Someone broke through a pad lock and took a case of peanut herbicide valued at $1,300.

On June 12, a resident of the 1000 block of E. Gate Circle reported someone had apparently broken through the deadbolt of his front door, or possibly a window, and stole three televisions and a Playstation 3 video game console.

On June 11, a resident of the 1900 block of S. Potter St. reported a window air-conditioning unit was taken from their home.

On June 11, a business on the 2700 block of Tallahassee Highway reported someone broke into a metal building by breaking a door hinge. Tools which could be used for a burglary were discarded on the ground. Several items, including a pressure washer, a leaf blower, a mosquito fogger and a 25-foot fuel hose, were reported stolen from the shed.

On June 10, a resident of Jamestown Apartments on King Street reported someone broke into their apartment while they were at work and stole a laptop and two pairs of valuable tennis shoes.

On June 10, a resident of the 1000 block of Wisteria Drive reported someone had broken into her locked car and taken her Bible and $250 in cash.

On June 10, a person building a new home on the 3000 block of Tallahassee Highway reported that someone had broken into a home under construction by busting a glass door. Some brick masonry tools were taken.

On June 8, the owner of a rental home on the 700 block of Orange St. reported someone had cut about two rolls’ worth of copper wiring from outside and underneath the residence.

On June 7, a resident of the 800 block of Broughton St. reported that sometime during the previous day, someone had broken into their home and cut copper wiring from inside it. The suspect cut the wire from the breaker box, the electric cord from two window air-conditioning units and the electric cord from a hot water heater.

On June 7, a resident of the 1000 block of Japonica Drive reported her nine-millimeter handgun was missing.

An attempted break-in was reported June 6 on the 1300 block of Conger Drive, however the suspect was scared off while he attempted to open a sliding glass door.

On June 6, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an auto break-in on the 2600 block of Thomasville Road. The thieft took the driver’s wallet, which contained financial cards and $225 in cash. The suspect apparently tried to use a knife to pry open a side door at the residence but did not gain entry.

A burglary was reported on the 1000 block of Lord Avenue on June 5. The victim reported that upon returning home, the home’s back door was open and a screen was missing from a window, which had been opened. $203 in cash was reported missing.

On June 9, a resident of Beaver Circle near Brinson reported that her home had been ransacked while she was away for several days. The victim stated they believed the suspect had made entry through a window. Some checkbooks were reported missing.
