Two Bainbridge school friends are using their creativity and initiative to help raise money for the Memorial Manor nursing home.

Ashton Brock, 9, and Ansley Walker, 10, will be in fifth grade next year, and spent Wednesday morning selling their unique crafts in front of Ansley’s Wyndham Way Drive home. The girls used patterned duct tape to create wallets, purses, pens and even larger items like sleeping bags.

They are selling the items to people in the neighborhood, and will turn all proceeds over to the Memorial Manor.

“I saw some people do it on a Youtube video and it looked fun,” Ansley said.

The girls are calling their venture “Double A Duct Tapers,” after their first names, and had already placed nine orders Wednesday morning. Ansley said a coin pouch or wallet takes less than a quarter roll of duct tape, while a sleeping bag might take two to 2.5 rolls.

Ashton is the daughter of Winston and Marcia Brock, and Ansley is the daughter of Billy and Rhonda Walker.
