Special to The Post-Searchlight

Gentiva Hospice will be offering a camp for children this summer, according to a company press release.

Camp Braveheart is designed for children, ages 7-14, who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Regardless of the type of loss or the reason for the loss, all children throughout the area are invited to apply to attend Camp Braveheart. A prior affiliation with Gentiva Hospice is not necessary; there is no charge to attend the camp and transportation to the camp will be provided.

Experiencing a loss at any age is difficult, but is especially hard on a child. Camp Braveheart is run by clinical experts who understand the healing process and who care about the children that are left behind. While the emphasis is on healing, there is play time as well. The children will participate in indoor and outdoor activities, such as arts and crafts, field games, and swimming. Children will also have the opportunity to honor the people they have lost with a very special memorial service.

The camp will be held at Camp Timpoochee, located in Niceville, Fla. The dates for the camp are Friday, July 20, through Monday, July 23. Camp applications will be accepted until July 1, and are available at www.gentiva.com/hospice/camps. For more information, call Andy Glover or Ron McCaskill at (229) 246-6330.
