Funeral services for Mr. James E. McGriff Sr., 81 of Attapulgus, will be held Saturday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at Second Morning Star M.B. Church in Attapulgus with the Rev. Henry Stephenson officiating. Interment will follow at Jones Lobe Cemetery with grandsons, William McNair Jr., Shawn McNair, James E. McGriff III, Jeremy McGriff and Ronnie Hines Jr., acting as pallbearers and the Deacons of Second Morning Star Baptist Church as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon.

Mr. McGriff was born March 4, 1931 in Attapulgus and died Friday, May 4, 2012 at Memorial Hospital. Mr. McGriff was retired. He was a member of Second Morning Star Baptist Church, the American Legion, a veteran of the military, a Mason, and a former Decatur County commissioner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arsolar and George McGriff.

Survivors include his wife, Christine McGriff; sons, James McGriff Jr., Jerome McGriff, Randall Hines, Gregory McGriff, and Dexter Trent McGriff; daughters, Betty Trent and LaTonya McNair; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five sisters and a great aunt, Willie M. Wright.
