Coach Ed Pilcher liked his Bainbridge High School Bearcats’ hustle and desire, during their first day of spring football practice on Thursday.

“At our coaches meeting following Thursday’s practice, we were all commenting about how well things went,” coach Pilcher said Friday morning.

“We did not work on special teams but the offense and defense came ready to work and really got after it.” Pilcher said. “We had about 80 players out for spring and they were all working hard.

“All of our young men have worked hard in the weight room and they were ready to get started on the field.”

Pilcher said that when the 10 days of on-field practice sessions conclude on Wednesday, May 16, the players will return to workouts in the weight room.

The pace of the first day of spring practice also pleased Pilcher.

“The pace of practice sessions in the spring is really important,” he said. “Thursday was really up-tempo for the first day and it will get more up tempo as spring practice sessions continue.”

The Bearcats feature a veteran offensive line, anchored by senior center Cole Granato, and a veteran running back tandem of seniors Damian Bouie and Terry Lewis.
