Bainbridge High School baseball coach Scott Miller told The Post-Searchlight on Tuesday that he has resigned from his coaching position. Miller said he plans to continue teaching at Bainbridge High School, but will not return next season as the head baseball coach.

Miller recently completed his ninth season as the head coach of the Bearcats. He is originally from Tallahassee, Fla., and graduated from Godby High School where he played baseball and football.

After graduation, he went on to play two years of college baseball at Central Florida Community College, where he earned his Associate of Arts degree. He later earned a baseball scholarship to Stetson University, where he played on two NCAA championship teams and graduated in 1989 with a B.A. degree in business management.

His previous coaching tenures include three years at Cottondale (Ala.) High School, one year at Escambia Academy in Atmore, Ala., and eight years at Marianna (Fla.) High School. While at Marianna, he led the baseball team to the Florida State Class 3A state championships in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. His Bulldogs captured the school’s first-ever state title in 1999.

Miller’s Bearcats finished the 2011 season with a record of 10-13.
