Bearcats, Lady Cats have strong efforts

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats track teams turned in some strong efforts in 17-team fields at Saturday’s Westover High School Invitational Meet, in Albany, Ga. The Bearcats finished fifth and the Lady Cats finished eighth.
Westover won the boys championship and Monroe won the girls title.
The Bearcats captured first places in both the 4-by-100-meter and 4-by-400-meter relays. in times of 42.67 seconds, and 3:26.75. Four-by-100-meter relay team members were Justin Baker, Ryan Edwards and Dontavious Jackson. Four-by-400-meter relay team members were Jevante Ross, Edwards, Jackson and Hubert Thomas.
Edwards was second in the 400-meter run, with a time of 49.65, and third in the 200-meter run, with a time of 22.50.
Craig Cooper captured third in the high jump, with a leap of six feet, and Jackson took fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 49.65.
Thomas was fourth in the 400-meter run, with a time of 50.93.
Fifth places were captured by Terry Lewis with an 11.24 100-meter dash time, and the Bearcats’ 4-by-800-meter relay team of Tony McGriff, Dominique Parrish, Alton Miller and Davie Reynolds, with a time of 9:20.64. Jordan Johnson was seventh in the triple jump, with a distance of 41 feet, 7 inches.
In girls competition, Bainbridge’s Diamond Bouie was third in the high jump, with a leap of 5 feet, third in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 46.32, and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 15.71.
Amber Braswell captured fourth in the 3,200-meter run, with a time of 13:11.25, and fifth in the 1,600-meter run, with a time of 6:11.56.
Also capturing fifth place was the Bearcats’ 4-by-400-meter relay team of Kadeejah Cooper, Jasmine Price, Raven Burney and Bouie. Their time was 4:12.57.
Cooper was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 47.27, and Porchia Green was fifth in the high jump, with a leap of 4 feet, 10 inches. Burney was sixth in the long jump, with a leap of 16 feet, 4 inches.
The Lady Cats’ 4-by-100-meter relay team of Cooper, Tearnee Harvin, Bouie and Burney finished fifth, with a time of 50.56. Tiffany Braswell took seventh in the 3,200-meter run, with a time of 13:44.72.
