Coach Chip Ariail’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats soccer team scored five first-half goals on senior night Tuesday at Centennial Field, and went on to shut out the Brooks County High School Lady Trojans, 9-0. Senior midfielder Savannah Cook received a crossing pass from freshman forward Jennifer Becerra at the left side of the six-yard box and put in a shot to the left post to put the Lady Cats up 1-0. In the 12th minute, Bainbridge junior midfielder Amber Braswell intercepted a failed Brooks County clearance ball and kicked in a goal from 12 yards out to make it 2-0. Senior midfielder Charlton Reynolds followed with consecutive goals in a span of a minute to increase the Lady Cats’ lead to 4-0. First, she took a pass from Becerra and scored from two yards out in the 26th minute; then, she scored on a penalty kick in the 27th minute after Becerra was fouled. The Lady Cats increased their halftime lead to 5-0 when Cook received a pass from Reynolds and scored from eight yards out. Senior defender Tiffany Hand opened the second-half scoring with a goal in the 44th minute that put the Lady Cats up 6-0. Senior goalkeeper Brianna Williams assisted on Hand’s goal. Becerra scored from close range in the 59th minute with an assist by junior defender Isis Crawford, and Williams scored from 12 yards out in the 63rd minute with an assist by senior midfielder Tanisha Gray, to make it 8-0. Braswell scored the final goal of the game, in the last second. She took a pass from junior defender Caitlyn Cato and hit a 15-yard shot from the right side.
