A funeral service for Collin E. Hastey, 33, of Brinson, will be held Tuesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Coram and the Rev. Avery Hutto officiating. Interment will follow at Oak City Cemetery with Casey Chapman, Pat Bryant, Jeff McCullough, Jake Bush, Matt Garrett, and Chris Kirven serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be his original shift  No. 1, consisting of Walter Landrum, Fred Black, Ray Cox, Craig Carr, Rusty Day, Gary Hines, Marty Brown, Eddie Williams, Daniel Henley, Bo Harrell, Tom Foster, and Terry Pait.

The members of Bainbridge Public Safety, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, the Decatur County Emergency Medical Services, the Decatur County Fire Department, and the Kendrick Volunteer Fire Department past and present will also be honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 16 at Ivey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kendrick Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 586, Bainbridge, GA 39818.

Born April 16, 1978 in Birmingham, Ala., Hastey passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Hastey was raised in Sylacauga, Ala. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1996, and a graduate of Northeast Georgia Police Academy, Class No. 205 in 2006. Collin was a detention officer, serving for over six years with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and Walton County Sheriff’s Office; from 2006 to present, he served as a police officer with Bainbridge Public Safety. Collin was a member of the Kendrick Volunteer Fire Department and Fellowship Baptist Church. He will always be remembered for his dedication to his family, his work and his community.

Collin was preceded in death by his father, Claude Max Hastey, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Gina Charmaine Hastey of Brinson; his sons, Hunter Claude Hastey and Gage Alan Hastey, both of Brinson; his mother, Nancy Strain Hastey of Bainbridge; his brother, David Eugene Hastey and his wife, Jolie, of Dalton, Ga.; his sister, Kim Hayes West and her husband, Danny, of Cairo, Ga.; his paternal grandmother, Nell Estelle Hastey of Sylacauga, Ala.; and his nephews, Nathan Hastey, Josiah Hastey, Jake Hastey, Kenneth Hayes, and Derek Hayes.
