Cats place 2nd, Lady Cats 7th at Central

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats took second and the Lady Cats were seventh in strong 12-team-fields at Saturday’s Yellow Jackets Invitational Track Meet at Thomas County Central High School.

Meet champions were Albany’s Westover High School Patriots in the boys division and the Valdosta High School Lady Wildcats in the girls division.

The Bearcats and Lady Cats will travel to Albany this Saturday to compete in the Smith-Benson Invitational Meet at the Hugh Mills Memorial Stadium Track.

In Thomas County, Bearcats Hugh Thomas and Ryan Edwards were first and second in the 400-meter run in times of 50.15 and 50.29.

The Bearcats 4-by-400-meter relay team of Terry Reynolds, Ryan Edwards, Alton Miller and Hubert Thomas won in a time of 3:30.71.

Second place went to the Bearcats 4-by-200-meter relay team of Justin Baker, Greg Cooper, Quincy Fortson and Terry Lewis. Their time was 1:32.28.

Craig Cooper and Hubert Thomas were second and third in the high jump with leaps of 6 feet and 5 feet, 10 inches. Hubert Thomas was third in the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 5 inches.

The Bearcats 4-by-100-meter relay team of Justin Baker, Quincy Fortson and Terry Lewis  finished second in a time of 42.98. Dontavious Jackson was fourth in the 110 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles in times of 15.29 and 41.16.

In girls competition, the Lady Cats 4-by-400-meter relay team of Kadeejah Cooper, Jasmine Price, Raven Burney and Diamond Bouie took second in a time of 4:12.96.

Kadeedra Sparrow took second in the shot put with a heave of 33 feet, 2 inches . Third places were captured by Tearnee Harvin with a 16 feet, 2 inch long jump and Porchia Green with a 5 feet, 2 inch high jump.

The Lady Cats 4-by-100-meter relay team of Kadeejah Cooper, Tearnee Harvin, Diamond Bouie and Raven Burney finished fourth in a time of 50.34.

Other fourth place finishers were Diamond Bouie with a 47.84 300-meters hurdles time and  a 5 foot high jump and Raven Burney with a 15 feet, 7 inch long jump.
