The funeral service for Marvin Rentz, 87, of Brinson, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2012, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Danny Shepard and Rev. Ron Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Bob Gittins, Hal Rentz, Phil Shiver, Lee Shiver, John Williams and Pete Stephens serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Ivey Funeral Home.

Mr. Rentz was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Baker County, Ga., the son of G.O. Rentz and Marthina Singleton Rentz. He died Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was a farmer and was involved in agribusiness as president of Rentz Farm Supply, and former owner of Rentz Irrigation and Rentz Trucking. He served 28 years on the Decatur County Board of Commissioners, six years as chairman, and served on the Farm Credit Board of Directors. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Davis Rentz.

Survivors include his sons, Steve Rentz and his wife, Pat, of Bainbridge, Don Rentz and his wife, Norma, of Brinson, Gary Rentz and his wife, June, of Brinson, and Dennis Rentz and his wife, Karla, of Brinson; his brother, Enoch Rentz of Bainbridge; his sister, Geneva Shiver of Cairo, Ga.; his grandchildren, Jimmy Rentz, Greg Rentz, Danny Rentz, April Allen, Missy Williams, Kristie McGahagan, Todd Rentz, Kevin Rentz and Alison Rentz; his great-grandchildren, Hunter Rentz, Ashton Rentz, Tyler Rentz, Gracie Williams, Isabella Rentz, Abigail Rentz, Fisher McGahagan, Taylor McGahagan and Bailey Perry; and his closest friend, Sue Blanchard of Bainbridge.
