An employee with Oxford Construction Co. was injured Tuesday afternoon, after he was struck by a dump truck while working on a bridge in rural Decatur County, Sheriff Wiley Griffin said.

The accident took place at approximately 4:15 p.m., on the Georgia 253 South bridge that crosses over Spring Creek, just east of the Seminole County-Decatur County line. Sheriff Griffin said the employee was working on the bridge when a dump truck approached from the west and was unable to stop in time, striking the man.

The dump truck involved in the accident belongs to Circle B Construction of Attapulgus.
