The Bainbridge High School gymnastics team performed well in two separate meets last week.

In their season opener Wednesday, Feb. 28, the Gym Cats went head-to-head in Moultrie, Ga., against the Thomas County Central and Colquitt County gym teams. On Friday, March 1, the girls competed in Tifton, Ga., against Jones County and Colquitt County.

Kay Bush received fourth-place all-around medals in each meet, behind three Moultrie gymnasts. Anna Lee Wiggins took fifth in the vault and fifth on the floor in Tifton.

The two remaining BHS gymnastics competitions will be held at the Thomasville YMCA on Wednesday, March 14, and at the Moultrie YMCA on Wednesday, March 28. Both meets are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

BHS gymnastics coach Jennifer Wilkinson said the team is off to a good start this season.

“The girls train hard and fast for their short gymnastics season,” she said. “We appreciate Murkerson’s Dance and Cheer Gym for allowing the BHS team to have the use of their gymnastics facilities. The girls would like everyone to come out and support the Gym Cats next Wednesday in Thomasville.”
