The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats soccer team opened sub-region play last Friday night, falling to visiting Thomas County Central by a 7-0 score at Centennial Field.

The Lady Yellow Jackets scored in the seventh and eighth minute of back-to-back penalty kicks. The first was from a foul in the penalty area, and the second was from a handball.

Thomas County increased its lead to 3-0 at halftime. Two of the four goals scored in the second half were from penalty kicks.

“I thought we challenged them, but mistakes in the penalty area really hurt our cause,” Bainbridge coach Chip Ariail said. “Despite the goals given up, I thought senior goalkeeper Brianna Williams really did a good job, getting 12 saves.”
