Coach Scott Miller’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats baseball team split two road games earlier this week, bringing their season record to 4-1 before Friday’s home game against Westover. That Westover game was not completed by press time.

They defeated the Thomasville High School Bulldogs, 6-5, Tuesday and were edged, 4-3, by the Liberty County High School Bulldogs from Bristol, Fla., on Thursday at Chipola College in Marianna, Fla.

The Bearcats will travel to Cairo on Tursday for a 6:30 p.m. game against the Cairo High School Syrupmakers at Cairo’s Jackie Robinson Field.

Bainbridge 6, Thomasville 5

Trailing Thomasville’s Bulldogs 3-1 in the top of the third inning Tuesday, the Bearcats rallied for three to go ahead, 4-3.

Second baseman Brandon Bates reached on an error to start the rally and catcher Blake Voyles doubled him in.

Voyles moved to third on a fielder’s choice and came in on an errant throw when Rion Murrah, who came on as a courtesy runner for pitcher Jake Goodson, walked and stole second.

Murrah later scored the third run himself when designated hitter Jordan Cox reached safely on an error.

Sparking the offense for the Bulldogs were Tristan Frazier, who had a two-run double, and Matt Allen, who had two hits and drove in a run.

The Bearcats scored their final two runs in the top of the fifth, on a two-run single by left fielder Trevor Watts.

Goodson, who was the winning pitcher, worked the first five innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out three and walking four.

Murrah pitched one inning, allowing one hit, a walk and two earned runs.

Liberty County (Fla.) 4, Bainbridge 3

The Bearcats took an early 1-0 lead over the Librty County Bulldogs in the top of the second.

First baseman Jordan Cox singled with one out, moved up to second when shortstop Matt Burke reached on a two-out error and later scored on a two-out error.

An error, two singles and a walk produced two runs in the bottom of the second, which put Liberty County out front 2-1.

A triple by Cox and an RBI single by right fielder Michael Faircloth got the Bearcats even at 2-2, in the bottom of the fourth.

They went ahead 3-2 with a run in the top of the sixth. It was scored by right fielder Faircloth who singled, stole second and third and came in on a fielder’s choice.

Liberty County produced a run on two singles and an error to tie it back up 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth. A walk and two singles produced the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
