Mrs. Doris Rebecca Taylor Elrod, age 84, of Douglas, Ga., passed away Monday, January 2, 2012, at the Coffee Regional Medical Center, following a short illness. Mrs. Elrod, a native of Greenville, S. C., was a Librarian with the First Baptist Church of Douglas. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Taylor, and the wife of the late Rev. Herbert Marshall “Herb” Elrod. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Arnold, and brother, Leonard Taylor, and sister, Ethel Woodruff. Mrs. Elrod was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, January 5 at 2:30 p.m., at the First Baptist Church, with Dr. Shep Johnson officiating. The Interment will follow in the Douglas City Cemetery in Douglas.

Survivors include: Daughter: Sandra Mayes of Yulee, Florida. Sons: Steve (Terri) Elrod of Bainbridge, Ga., and Randy (Janet) Elrod of Douglas, Ga. Grandchildren: Melody (Jamie) Goode of Yulee, Fla., Charles (Kimberly) Bedwell of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Stephanie (Easton) Kinnebrew of Americus, Ga., Samantha “Sam” Elrod of Bainbridge, Ga. ; Marshall Elrod of Douglas, Ga., Steven Elrod of Washington, DC.; (Patrick) Elrod of Douglas, Ga., Robbie Wooten; Sam Wooten; Chuck Wooten; Lisa Phillips, Lin Taylor, all of Andersonville, S.C., James Allen Wooten of U.S. Naval Base, Norfolk, Va. Great Grandchildren: Taylor Googe of Anderson, S.C. ; Keith Googe of Yulee, Fla., Keith Bedwell, and Jacob Bedwell, both of Fernandina Beach, Fla., Amelia Kinnebrew, and Kinney Kinnebrew, both of Americus, Ga., Walker Allen of Bainbridge, Ga.; Chloe Lott, and Deanna Lott, both of Douglas, Ga., Josie Taylor, Billy Taylor, Riley Wooten, Jody Taylor, Gregory Taylor, Tommy Phillips, Lee Phillips, Guy Phillips, Satney Wooten, Ansley Wooten, Rachael Wooten, Samantha Wooten, Gage Wooten, Nikki Wooten, Reagan Zugg, Rachael Zugg, and Jake Taylor, all of Anderson, S.C. Several Nieces, Nephews, Friends, and Other Relatives.

Ricketson Funeral Home in Douglas, Ga., was in charge of arrangements.
