BHS alum Burke’s career night leads Illinois to win over Clemson

Bainbridge High School alumna and Illinois sophomore Alexis Burke scored a career-high 26 points Thursday, helping the Illini break a four-game losing streak and defeat Clemson, 61-50.

According to the Illinois sports website (www.fightingillini.com), Burke came off the bench to lead the Illini (3-5) in scoring. She played just 20 minutes, but was 12-of-18 from the field and 2-of-3 from the free-throw line.

Burke also pulled down five rebounds, including three offensive rebounds, and finished with one block and two steals.

“Alexis has been coming into her own and really put in some work tonight,” Illinois coach Jolette Law said. “She has been practicing extremely well and her energy off the bench, along with [freshman] Ivory Crawford, made the difference.”
