Funeral services for Mrs. Lessie M. Crawford, 88, of Climax, were held Friday, Nov. 11, 2011, at Greater Mount Calvary First Born Church in Climax, with Bishop Titus Deas Sr. and Elder Germany officiating. Interment followed at Fleatown Cemetery in Climax, with Curtis Crawford, Timothy Crawford, Jafus Crawford, Jasper Crawford Jr., Nathaniel Crawford Jr. and Keenan Harris as honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were Gary Martin, Bernard Douglas, Choice Martin, James Hall Jr., Kenneth Martin, and L.C. Douglas Jr.
Mrs. Crawford was born April 16, 1923, in Climax, the daughter of Alex Douglas and Cilla Martin. She died Nov. 7, 2011, in Bainbridge after an extended illness. She was a homemaker and a member of Greater Mount Calvary First Born Church.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lisa Crawford.
Survivors include a daughter, Gunzella Crawford of Bainbridge; four sons: Curtis Crawford and wife Inez, Jafus Crawford,, all of West Palm Beach, Fla., Nathaniel Crawford and wife Maxine of Tallahassee, Fla., and Timothy Crawford and wife Cinderella of Bainbridge; two grandsons: Jasper Crawford Jr. and wife Wanda of Climax, and Jafus Crawford Jr. of Warner Robins, Ga.; six granddaughters: Nadelyn Harris and husband Keenan, of Miami, Fla., Mia Crawford of Miami, Kendra Hines Crawford of Albany, Ga., Courtney Crawford of Climax, TyKeisha Ousley of Bainbridge, and Samantha Crawford of Tallahassee; great-grandson Christian Harris of Miami; brother Otis Douglas of Climax; godchildren, Bishop Titus Deas Sr. and Joanne of Fort Valley, Ga. and Deloris and David Crawford of Bainbridge.
Cloud Funeral Home of Cairo was in charge of the arrangements.
