The Bainbridge Middle School eighth-grade Lady Cats and Bearcats split two season-opening games here Thursday, against Seminole County Middle School.

In the opener at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum, coach Latoya Bowen’s Lady Cats defeated the Lady Indians, 29-18. They were led by Asia Gordon with  12 points. Alexis Gaines scored six.

The Lady Cats took command early, jumping out to a 20-9 halftime lead. They built their advantage to 30-13 after three quarters.

In the nightcap, coach Heith Maxwell’s Bearcats lost 74-58 to the Indians. They were led by Tyree Crump, who poured in 30 points. Nyles Thomas added 11 and Russell Wheeler put in six.

The eighth-grade Lady Cats and Bearcats will return to action Thursday, Nov. 10, when they travel to Leesburg to take on Lee County Middle School.

On Thursday, Nov. 17, they will travel to Thomas County Central Middle School.
