Yellow Jackets run same sets as Bearcats

The Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets, the Bainbridge High School Bearcats’ opponent in their final Region 1-AAAA and regular season game Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Field, runs the same split back veer offense and eight man defensive front as the Bearcats.

The Yellow Jackets were formerly coached by Bearcats head coach Ed Pilcher.

Central quarterback Adam Choice and running back James Davis are first and second in Region 1-AAAA in all-purpose yards.

Choice has gained 1,030 yards and scored 11 touchdowns and averaged 147.1 yards a game.

Davis has rushed for 709 yards, caught passes for 102 yards, and has 6 yards in punt returns and 247 yards in kickoff returns. He has averaged 133 yards a game and scored nine touchdowns.

Also having a big offensive year for the Yellow Jackets is running back Deondre Cooksey, who has 514 yards rushing and has scored six touchdowns. He has averaged 76.4 yards a game.

Defensively, the Yellow Jackets are led by tackle Winston Codling, who is third in Region 1-AAAA in tackles with 85.

He leads the region in solo tackles with 52. Defensive back Keshad Creek has 49 total tackles.

Senior linebacker Jon Esther has 48 tackles and has caused two fumbles which he recovered.

Defensive back Peyton Glass has six sacks and 10 quarterback pressures.
