Memorial Hospital and Manor chief executive officer Billy Walker shared his facility’s commitment to respect, courtesy and quality service with members of the Bainbridge Lions Club Wednesday.

“We have had two health fairs this year.” he said. “The second one was Tuesday of this week at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.  We had an earlier one at Bainbridge First Baptist Church. Over 500 people were seen at them.

“During October, which is breast cancer awareness month, our employees are wearing pink on Wednesdays in honor of those who have been touched by it.

“Our mission is to provide quality service for our hospital patients and residents of our 107-bed Memorial Manor Nursing Home facility.”

Walker told the Lions about a big honor local physician Dr. Sydney Cochran has received.

“The Georgia Hospital Association has received nominations of 10 people as state hospital heroes and Dr. Cochran is one of them,” he said. “We nominated him and we are very proud of him.”

Walker also told the Lions that the hospital is constantly recruiting new doctors and that new office space is needed.

“We have purchased the building on Amelia Avenue that previously housed the Department of Family and Children’s Services offices,” he said. “It contains 15,000 square feet. We also plan to expand our hospital in the future.”
