Services for Barbara “Bobbie” Jane Kirkland Hurst, 72, of Donalsonville, Ga., will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Cox-Ware Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born March 4, 1939 in Alachua County, Fla., Mrs. Hurst died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville.  She was the daughter of John B. and Eunice ElizaWaters Kirkland.

She worked as a supervisor at Bainbridge Mills. Bobbie was described by her family as a good mother and grandmother; who dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would bend over backwards to do anything to help someone.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Hurst; son, DeWayne Hurst; and brother, Melvin “Buddy” Kirkland.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Hurst of Youngstown, Fla. and Cindi Hurst of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters and brothers, Mary Speir of Brinson, Gerald Blaylock of North Augusta, S.C., Jewell Blaylock, Jennie Blaylock, Marion Blaylock and Morris Blaylock, all of Lakeland; grandchildren, Christopher Butler, Michael Hurst, Kelly Johnson, Nikki Bramlett, Jessica West, and David Hargrove; great-grandchildren: Shyanne Pennington, Mea Butler, Liam Bramlett, Charleigh Bramlett, Morgan Patrick, Ryleigh Yates, Dylan Yates, Skyler Jones, Ashlynn Jones, and Alaina Hargrove; and sister-in-law: Sandy Kirkland of Bainbridge.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
