Karate students clean up at meet

Students from the Goju Karate School, located at 1615 E. Shotwell Street in Bainbridge, recently competed in a karate tournament held in Tallahassee, Fla. The students finished with 17 trophies in total — six first-place trophies, six second-place trophies and five third-place trophies. The tournament was held at Professor Gallop Franklin’s Karate Do facility and students participated in sparring and various kata forms. “We have proven that our children can succeed and have surpassed their many accomplishments,” said Sensei Walter Lang of the Goju Karate School. “I am very proud of them.” Shown are instructor Albert Thomas, parent Clarice Henry, students Destiny Henry, Aubrey Henry, Brentin Campbell, Clarice Henry, Sellissie Henry, Jaden Martin, Trayvon Cheatem and Nicholas Johnson and head instructor Walter Lang.
