Services for Murl D. Edwards, 89, were held Monday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. at Gretna, Fla. Presbyterian Church, with burial at Sunny Dell Cemetery, in Gretna.

Mrs. Edwards was born Jan. 29, 1922 to George and Phoebie Donalson of Bainbridge. She died Sept. 16, 2011 in Ocala, Fla.

She was an active member of Gretna Presbyterian Church until she moved in June, 2005 to The Villages, Fla., to be near her daughter Patricia and her husband, George Townsend. Her interests included family, sewing, cooking, baking and gardening. She will be remembered by her many friends and family for her wedding and birthday cakes and her cookbook, “From My Kitchen to Yours,” published in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton Edwards of Gretna.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and George Townsend of The Villages; grandson and wife, Tony and Karen Townsend of League City, Texas; granddaughter and husband, Sabrina and Tony Sargent of McDonough, Ga.; her great-grandchildren, Elise Koester of Dallas, Texas, Wyatt, Jackson and Samantha Sargent of McDonough, Ga.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Independent Funeral Home of Quincy was in charge of local arrangements.
