Services for Bobby Vance Eidson, 72, of Cairo, Ga., were held Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at Cairo First Baptist Church with Dr. Joe Allen and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, Cairo, with the Deacons of First Baptist Church acting as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Eidson was born on June 5, 1939, in Bainbridge, to the late Landers Guy Eidson and Mamie Eloise Burnum Eidson. He died Sept. 17, 2011.

He married Jeanette Newsome Eidson on July 21, 1957, at Open Pond Baptist Church in Bainbridge. He graduated from Climax High School in 1956. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member and deacon of Cairo First Baptist Church and enjoyed being actively involved with his church, very committed to studying the bible and meeting weekly with friends and family for that purpose.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Doris Eidson Joiner and Joan Eidson Dean.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette N. Eidson of Cairo; daughters, Marsha Eidson Duvall and husband Ramon of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Leigh Eidson Hunter and her husband Bill of Savannah, Ga.; grandchildren Marshall Duvall and Ashleigh Duvall of Panama City Beach, Dallas Hunter of Savannah; brother Landers Guy Eidson Jr. and wife Olga of Faceville; sister Jan Eidson Mason and husband James of Colquitt, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building and Grounds Memorial Funds at Cairo First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1538, Cairo, GA. 39828.

Clark Funeral Home of Cairo was in charge of the arrangements.
