7th grade Bearcats fall to Central, 20-6

Tyrice Cloud ran for three touchdowns Wednesday at Centennial Field to lead the Thomas County Central Middle School seventh-grade Yellow Jackets to a 20-6 victory over the Bainbridge Middle School seventh-grade Bearcats.
He broke off the right side and ran 90 yards for a touchdown to put the Yellow Jackets up 6-0 with 3:56 left in the first quarter. Quarterback Kelias Williams tried to run an option off the left side for the two point conversion, but the Bearcats’ defense came up to stop him short.
The Bearcats quickly tied it 6-6 when Dalvin Spivie took the ensuing kickoff and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown with 3:42 showing on the first quarter clock. Tadarias Young tried to run in for the two-point conversion, but was stopped short.
The Yellow Jackets increased their lead to 14-6 when Cloud ran 5 yards for a touchdown and Ernest McCorkle ran in for the two-point conversion with 5:03 left in the third quarter.
Cloud ran 25 yards around the left side for the Yellow Jackets’ final touchdown with 1:34 left in the game. He tried to run in for the two-point conversion, but the Bearcats’ defense stopped him short.
The Bearcats, who are 1-2 on the season, will return to action Wednesday when they host Thomasville’s McIntyre Park Middle School seventh-grade Bulldogs at 5 p.m. at Centennial Field.
