Cross country teams do well in Leesburg competition

The Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats cross-country team took first place and their top runner Bennett Enfinger was first overall with a two-mile time of 13 minutes, 7 seconds, highlighting the annual  Lee County High School and Middle School Trojans and Lady Trojans Invitational Meet Saturday in Leesburg.
Coach Jenny Oldaker’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-countryteams turned in solid efforts as well.
Finishing first for the BHS Bearcats was Davey Reynolds, with a new 5,000-meter (3.1 miles) meet record time of 22 minutes, 20 seconds.
The Lady Cats finished fifth in a six team field.
The middle school Lady Cats’ Jessica Miranda finished fifth.
Oldaker praised her runners and community coach Greg Waddell for their hard work and dedication.
“Coach Greg Waddell has worked so hard to get our runners ready and they are all working extremely hard,” she said. “This Saturday we will be hosting our annual Bearcats and Lady Cats Invitational Meet at Spring Hill Christmas Tree Farm. It will begin at 9 a.m.”
